Farm facts

Did you know…

Lineham Farm is really old, dating back to the 17th century. It was actually derelict until 1992, when Denise Atkinson, the Lord Mayor of Leeds, decided to do something about it. Nine months later, with help from friends and organisations across Leeds, the Farm was reborn as the cool place it is today.

Our hens lay 30 eggs every day – that’s well over 10,000 eggs a year. No yolking.

They may look a bit scary but our turkeys are very sensitive, and hate thunder and lightning

The cockerels wake up at 5 am (and sometimes so do we)

We’re very green at Lineham. We run our environment centre on solar energy, and our electric fence is wind-powered.

We’ve got cameras in our bird boxes and pig pens so we can watch the animals without even going outside.

Around 38 schools visit us every year – about 1100 children in total

Since 1993, over 14,000 local Leeds kids have visited the Farm. That’s a lot of kids, and even more laughs.
