The organic garden

We help Helen and Jo look after the organic garden. Organic means we don’t use chemical fertilisers or pesticides (pest killers). So a lot of the work has to be done manually. We use manure from the farmyard (Malachi’s poo – eew) and make all the uncooked vegetables into compost. It’s a good job we like getting our hands dirty.

We grow apples, strawberries, cucumbers, lettuce, peppers, potatoes and sprouts. And in the herb garden we grow curled parsley, garden mint, spearmint, hot and spicy oregano and ginger mint. When it’s ready, we harvest it for Arlene to cook for our meals. Yum.
