What the kids can expect

Here’s what happens in a typical week at Lineham...

What are you like at rock climbing? How about mountain biking up on the skills loop? Ever walked in the woods with your torch OFF? The adventures start here.

You can also sneak a peek at the animals with our live webcams, or click on Arlene to see what’s cooking in the kitchen. Afterwards, test your Lineham knowledge with the Farm Quiz. What are you waiting for?

Mountain biking

Paul takes us cycling – we love it. We go through mud, puddles, and up and down hills – all really fast. It gets us out of breath but it’s brilliant fun. Now at the  Farm, we go on lots of differennt skill courses and we learn how to ride our bikes safely! Have you been on rock and roll yet??

Cart rides

What a ride! Malachi is really strong but gentle too. He can be harnessed to his cart and take us for rides on the woodland track. It’s a cool way to travel – much better than cars and buses.

Looking after Animals

There are lots of cool animals on the Farm. Richard and Steve teach us how to groom the honey coloured Shetland ponies, Rolo and Polo. We say hi to Rodney, the nosey goat and meet Paddy and Murphy our Kune Kune pigs. We also collect eggs from all our chickens to eat for our breakfast. And lots, lots more.

The famous Night Walk

On Monday night, Steve takes us for a walk in the woods – and when it gets dark in the countryside it gets REALLY dark. We look out for bats hunting and whatever else might be lurking. It’s a bit scary but really exciting and when we’re back at the Farm we get a mug of yummy hot chocolate.

Get growing

This is where you can really get your hands dirty. We weed the organic garden, learn how to plant and grow things and then cover everything with Malachi’s poo! (It helps things grow). A lot of what Arlene cooks for us comes from the organic garden – including strawberries, peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, potatoes, and herbs like spearmint, hot and spicy oregano, and ginger mint. We’ve even got a mini orange tree.

Games

After tea, we hit the Games Room for pool and table tennis. Or we listen to music, play skittles and get stuck into team games and challenges – even the teachers join in!

Art

We love getting creative. Tamzin shows us how to make everything from our own t-shirts, and batik pictures to modroc masks, and mosaic mirrors. We even get to take our masterpieces home too.

Climbing

If the scariest thing you’ve ever climbed is a tree, you’ll love proper climbing – it’s a total rush. Tamzin’s the expert and teaches everyone how to do it properly. Scared of heights? You won’t be once Tamzin’s finished with you! Now you might even get to have a go on the high ropes course, its SOOO high!

Country Trek

After we’ve fuelled up on one of Arlene’s yummy breakfasts, we set off from the Farm with a map, a home-made picnic and play ‘spot the wildlife’ as we go. We keep our eyes peeled for red kites, rabbits, stoats, dragonflies and owls. And if we’re lucky – SSSSSSH quiet – roe deer too.

Crazy nights

Every night we get together in a big group and do fun stuff like bingo, karaoke, quiz night and the spooky Night Walk. Past groups loved the amazing Bin Bag Fashion Show, fancy-dress parties, discos. Wicked.
